Powering the Holidays Christmas Light Contest presented by BTU

Think you have the best Christmas light display in the BTU service territory? Now is your chance to prove it!

The first annual Powering the Holidays Christmas Light Contest, presented by BTU, is here! We're proud to bring this new holiday tradition to the Brazos Valley as we seek to find the best Christmas light display in our service territory!

All BTU customers are eligible to enter, and prizes will be awarded to the winner!

Here's how it works:

  1. Read the rest of this page to view contest rules, prizes, and to sign up.
  2. Have your lights and/or displays up and running by Dec. 5, and make sure they are running the evenings of Dec. 8-12 for our judges to view.
  3. Follow BTU on our social media accounts to see who wins!

Contest Rules:

  1. To enter and participate, a home or business must be an active BTU customer.
  2. Light displays must be safely operated and comply with all relevant codes, city ordinances, and HOA restrictions to be considered eligible for prizes.
  3. Displays must be family-friendly (think PG-rated movie).
  4. Light displays must be in place no later than Friday, Dec. 5.
  5. Judging will take place between Monday, Dec. 8 and Friday, Dec. 12. Lights must be on during this week. If lights are off when our judges arrive, every effort will be made for a second-chance judging but this cannot be guaranteed.
  6. Displays will be judged on holiday spirit, creativity and originality, overall design and appearance, and use of lights and decorations. Judges decisions and scores are final!
  7. While prizes are awarded, this is a friendly competition meant to boost the joy and holiday spirit of the Brazos Valley. Any actions deemed to be against the spirit of that goal will not be tolerated.
  8. Employees of BTU and the City of Bryan and their families are welcome to participate, but will not be eligible for prizes.
